About

Hi, I'm Michael.

My first career was in capital markets, at BNZA, HSBC in London and St George Bank. Then I swapped spreadsheets for spotlights. I trained at the Actors College of Theatre & Television, did stand-up at the Comedy Store, directed and performed at Belvoir and the Seymour Centre, and landed TV roles in Home and Away and All Saints.

Since 2008 I've run Key Studio in North Sydney, directing and coaching presenters from nervous first-timers to senior executives. I've hosted and presented at thousands of live events along the way. That's the best training an MC can have, because there are no second takes.

Now I bring all of it to your event. I prepare properly, stay calm when plans change, and make your people the stars. I'm based in North Sydney, travel Australia-wide, and host virtual events for audiences anywhere.

Good questions.

What does it cost to book you?

Fees depend on the event format, duration, preparation and travel. Most corporate engagements are quoted as a flat package covering the discovery call, scripting, rehearsal and the event itself. Send your details and I'll reply with a quote within one business day.

Do you write the MC script?

Yes. I write it from your run sheet and brief, and send it to you for approval before the event. If your producer already has a script, I'll work from theirs.

Can you coach our speakers before the event?

Yes. I'm a presentation coach and director, and I've worked with hundreds of presenters. I can run a pre-event session with your CEO, award presenters or panel to tighten the message and the delivery. Just ask when you enquire.

Do you travel?

Yes, anywhere in Australia and beyond. Travel and accommodation are quoted at cost.

Can you host virtual or hybrid events?

Yes. I'm comfortable on camera, with remote presenters and moderating live chat, and I'll work closely with your streaming team.

Are you insured?

Yes, I hold public liability insurance. I'm happy to provide a certificate of currency for your venue.

How do deposits and payments work?

A 50% deposit at booking locks in your date, and the balance is due before the event. Payment is by bank transfer, and the details are on every invoice. More on payments.

How far ahead should we book?

Peak dates (March–June and October–December) often book three to six months ahead. Still, it's always worth asking about short-notice dates.
